Pantone Color of the Year 2017 - Greenery

January 09, 2017 Pamela Rodgers

If you are on this site, chances are pretty good that you are familiar with Pantone. No? Or, maybe you know that Pantone has something to do with color, but you don’t know exactly what - or who - they are. Pantone is a corporation best known for its Pantone Color Matching System. A standardized way to identify specific shades of colors across the spectrum.

Since the year 2000, the Pantone Color Institute chooses what they believe will be the most popular colors of the upcoming season and declare one of those the color of the year. Those colors are often followed by those in the fashion and cosmetic industry, designers, etc. For 2017, Pantone has chosen Greenery - color 15-0343.

Executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, says “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another, and a larger purpose.”

I am already seeing this color pop up in fashion magazines and home decor. If you want to be super fashion forward, you can grab a bottle of Acid Pops from the shop.
